How to Prepare Wine Bottle Candle Holder?
While making wine bottle candle holder main challenge is to cut the bottle from bottom, which can be easily done by the following way
– Wrap a cotton string around the bottle 5-6 times then tie and cut the loose end.
– Soak this string in the nail polish remover for a while.
– Again tie this nail polish remover soaked string around the glass bottle where you want to cut it.
– Burn this string evenly while tied around the bottle.
– As the fire begins to burn out, plunge the end of the bottle into the cold water. The end will break off cleanly.
Sand the cut portion down. Now, place the circular or any shape sticker on the bottle and spray it up all around.
Now, remove the stickers and place it above a candle. Your handmade candle holder is ready to use !!

Would you translate to Turkish. I like very very much.
I am so trying this! Love it!
Very easy we can put good use of the wine nottles.
Sorry,
But this method of cutting the bottle is not really helpful, I tried this the momet I saw, But It did not yield result, also I wasted my mother’s nail polish remover 🙁
Does your nail polish remover have acetone in it? Most removers are made without it now, it’s a harsh substance. I’ve seen other tutorials using plain old acetone, which you can get at a hardware store. Just be careful, it’s flammable. 🙂
So use acetone based remover?
You have to use 100%acetone. It will not work with anything else. And you can eliminate the cold water. You just need a small wood block and small hammer with light touch to knock the bottom off!
Beautiful I will try it
I love this idea . Will definitely apply
I love this idea I will make it love the easy way to cut the glass
great idea for out door weddings
I have tried at least 20 times to use this process and i have never been able to get it to work.
I TRIED THIS A FEW TIMES AS WELL. – I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IT TO WORK EITHER. ??
I also used the glass cutting tools with boiling water and ice I can’t get a clean break on any methods:(
True it is not practice, the best is to use glass bottle cutter, need to give proper heat to the score of glass cutter, then just dip in normal water.
S…u are correct
how do you keep the the glass from splintering.? I have tried 2 times and glass breaks and cracks
It’s a great wonderful idea
Regards/Thanks ?
Great idea but doesn’t work ?
I also tried to cut the bottles trying this method and it didn’t work using nail polish remover. What am I doing wrong?
love this idea it s so clear cutting! I’ll try it right now thanks
A friend used lighter fluid and said it worked great for them. Did suggest doing it outside though.
Wow, I didn’t know it was so easy to cut bottles. I have a lot of them. Can’t wait to do this!
Im trying again today with lots of ice
I tried four times and it didnt work, hoping ice will do the job, if it doesnt Im going to screaaam!!!!
I tried this and had a problem with splintering too. It’s all cracked at the point that it broke at and the top it is also uneven. Is there a way to avoid this?
If you’re sanding glad make sure you do it under running water. Sanding glass dry is super dangerous- you end up breathing in the tiny fragments of glass dust.
Sandpaper or a sanding wheel?
Hello,
I’ve just tried this, but it’s actually not working, the fire doesn’t go along the string !
I’ve checked, and there is some acetone in the nail polish remover, so I don’t understand why it’s not working ,
thanks for your help ,
Lina
I did exactly what was required, step by step. anticipating a successful outcome. No dice. I was VERY disappointed!
Hi, does anyone knows how to do a flat cut to a bottle ? It is cutting it from top to the bottom.
Thanks a lot
Gabriela
Be very careful – wear protective gloves! Tried this and received 7 stitches after the bottle cut my thumb!
I’ve been looking for a way to do this for a few years, thank you so very much for sharing. There’s so many crafts to try but most will not give instructions. I am so ready to do this tomorrow. Thanks for sharing.
I also tried this did it twice used more yarn to burn longer and after burn off directly into ice water, still didn’t work
score the bottle first..this lady skipped an entire step. and even still u might need to wack the bottle some to get it to come off
What Grit Sander should I use to sand down the sharp edges?
I have cut many bottles using the score, heat and cool method, still a 33% success rate is all you can expect, it’s not an exact science.
